Hello from Keith Pierce, President of OASIS Masters Football.
Happy New Year to the OASIS member clubs, and all players who love the beautiful world games. I hope you all had a good Christmas and will have a great year ahead.
Despite COVID-19 still lingering last year, we were fortunately still able to play football without too many disruptions. In this tough last year, we were proud to be able to organise two successful events with the support of our member clubs: A mini Gala Day in February and a Gala Weekend in June at Western Sydney Wanderers Football Park. And congratulations to our member club, Camden Hasbeens, who were the proud gold medalists in the O/65 age group at Pan Pacific Masters Games held in Gold Coast last November.
2023 looks even more promising as there are quite a few football events being organised domestically and overseas. This year OASIS is also planning to put an O/70 team together for overseas tournaments. For those who are interested to participate please check the details here:
Upcoming Tournaments, or contact me.
OASIS is also looking for our member clubs to organise a few gala weekends so if you have any ideas let’s have a discussion.
OASIS Masters Football is growing and we want to reach out to as many older football players as possible. To this extent, I would like to share with you my idea of a proposal put forward for a TV documentary / mini-series for an OASIS O/70 football team - something similar to the Nerds FC series produced by SBS in 2006. I would like to share and discuss more with Craig Foster, who I bumped into last November at a charity event in North Ryde. Please reach out to me to share your valuable ideas and advice to make it happen, one day in the near future.
OASIS is also looking for sponsorships of any kind to make our association as financially sustainable as possible in order to promote and improve the well-being of the older community groups across Australia. Please reach out if you or anyone you know who may be able to help as sponsors.
In closing, I look forward to working with every one of you to grow OASIS; promote football, and therefore to improve better well-being in older age groups in Australia.
